Lecture Post: Networking

Entrepreneurial Idea Overview:
If you ever wondered what that delicious wafting smell is coming from, the Food FTW App can detect what food it is through the newest iTouch/iPhone generation's smell sensor. The app can also identify food by pictures. The app has a database of all kinds of cuisine with information about them making it a handy tool for food lovers who enjoy discovering and learning about the food they eat.

Lecture:
How the Food FTW App will relate to network is that the application itself is a network. It is on a iPhone and the app fosters communication amongst its users' by allowing to add or comment other users on the app. Information on food and its users' are compiled to be shared with one another. All the information on food and its scents and pictures are located on a bigger host server. The client using the application is accessing that information, which creates a network.

By allowing several people to use this application online at the same time, this is a form of network. Food FTW has a website and its web protocol goes through steps between the client and server to draw information. Also, a website cannot exist without its very own IP address. An IP address is a set of 4 bytes. The IP address needs a domain name. foodftw.com is its domain name. The application is used on the phone but the website allows users to access it through the computer and present information in a more convenient way.

At the Food FTW headquarters, our computers will become a client/server network. Multiple hardware, clients, etc can be accessed through a host computer because it becomes a server. It will make producing the application more convenient as it allows the workers do their work from anywhere. Also, it cost less to have multiple physical hardware and computers.
